Q: iphone applications?
I just recenty purchased an iPhone. and it works fine browing internet, youtube, POP mail etc... I'm just wondering everytime I want to swtich applications, I just simply press the home buttons and choose the application I want to use. And when I get back to the previous applications, I just use home button and get back to where it was left. I am just wondering, if there's any button or command to close the applications? I think, after awhile, it leaves me open all the applications and I think that will eventually slow down the processing speed..

A: you can quit any app that you believe is taking too much processor! By pressing the button, and holding it until the app goes away. the iPhone apps from Apple are very good about doing very little in the background. some of the third party apps I've loaded are not as nice!

Q: Iphone-applications?

A: Don't expect flash any time soon! but iChat is easy! http://flickim.com is a close approximation of iChat. Lots of developers are in a google group. we discuss programming techniques for the iPhone, and members are happy to announce their latest programs and discuss the hacks (like the ringtone hacks)

Q: How to re-download purchased iPhone Applications onto a new Mac?
I used a piece of software to take the songs from my iphone and put them onto my new Macbook's itunes but something went wrong and my itunes now wants me to restore my iphone to factory settings in order for me to put any new songs on. UGH. I'm worried about my applications though . Will i be able to re-download them without paying for them again? Is there any way to take them off and put them onto my itunes? Any advice? Thanks :)

A: If you sign into the same itunes account on your new comp. Itunes knows you already bought the apps and will not charge you again. You will have to re-download them again to your new comp. But it will be free if your signed into the same account that bought them. It will say "you have already paid for this app, itunes will not charge you again" and then it will proceed the download.

A: All you have to do is just keep your finger on any App on the iPhone. Just hold it there for like 5 seconds. Then you should see all of the items on the screen start to wiggle. The ones you can delete have an X in the corner of it. Just tap the X and it will ask if you want it deleted. After you are done deleting of moving around your Apps just press the Home button and everything will return back to normal again.

Q: What language do iPhone applications use?
Want to develop iPhone apps, and was curious as to what language (XML, etc.) the iPhone uses for its apps?

A: primarily iPhone applications are developed using Objective C language, like most of the Mac applications. Apple has released versions of iPhone SDK by which providing the API's and Simulator . and applications developed using above SDK can be published to the official AppStore. secondarily, for jailbroken phones there are multiple languages support like Java , Python etc. those runtimes / environments can be installed using Cydia installers. Hope this clarifies. Cheers :)

Q: What is The old iPhone Applications Monthly Cost?
Ok, my friend is going to buy a iPhone 3G and sell his old iPhone to me for a hundred dollars. He is going to continue his plane onto the new 3G. So i will have a iPhone but really its a iTouch because there is no phone. How much does internet and everything else cost monthly?

A: Since you are using it as an iPod touch, the internet will not cost you anything since you will just be connecting to wi-fi networks, at long as the wifi is free, you are good to go. If you want to get the internet anywhere you are, you will actually have to activate the phone with a voice and data plan in order to do that.

Q: Can iPhone applications work anywhere else besides the iPhone?
I don't really want to buy an iPhone (one because I'm not in the States, and I'm not looking to have to jailbreak/unlock anything & two because it doesn't have video recording or FM Radio)... so my question is do Apple's apps work anywhere else besides the iPhone? Is there a converter or anything like that, that could change them to suit a Nokia N95 8GB? And also: what is your opinion on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic? Good phone or not?

A: dont think they do. and jailbreaking isnt hard at all. did it in like 10 min.

Q: Can a developer sell iphone applications? and make decent money?
I was wondering if I made an iphone application if there was somewhere to sell it on apples website to make money or royalties off of each sell? I am a UI designer. Any other suggestions for other places to make applications for? Thanks.

A: Absolutely! That's the whole point of the App Store: http://www.apple.com/iphone/appstore/ In fact, that's the only way you can distribute iPhone apps. iPhone/iPod Touch users can all browse the App Store either in iTunes or through their device and download the apps. Apple made it seamless and easy to access. As a developer, you can set any price for your app, from FREE to $999. You get 70% of the price of the app, and Apple keeps the other 30%. So, if you hit the common price point of $9.99, you would get $7 per copy sold. I believe Apple mails you a check monthly. There is a relatively small initial investment to access the developer tools and get your developer license. Assuming you're just making commercial apps (and not in-house, corporate enterprise apps), you'd need the standard developer license of $99/year. Here's the link to get you started: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/ If you've never developed for any Apple platform before, you're in for a treat. Apple makes some fantastic developer tools and bundles them into a great integrated package. And, they have a ton of useful information on their site (and developer podcasts in iTunes). Good luck! I hope to see your app(s) in the App Store soon!
