Q: Blackberry pearl?
I am up for an up grade with verizon and I am not sure If I should get a blackberry pearl or enV? I am leaning towards the blackberry pearl. I like the design of the pearl better. but the enV has a qwerty keyboard. I would use the phone mostly for call and text.

A: blackberry pearl cuz it looks nicer but if you need to use it more for texting i would say env.

Q: How do you hard reset a blackberry pearl?
How do you reset a blackberry pearl? Do you need to make a backup first?

A: A hard reset on a Blackberry is done by pulling out the battery while the device is powered ON. After about 30 seconds, put the battery back in and the device will power up. The hard reset does not affect any data - email, pictures, music, etc. This is typically done when the device isn't operating properly - emails not being received, camera not working right, or memory problems like email disappearing. It is a good idea to make a backup on a regular basis - just in case the Blackberry stops working. Backup are done using the Blackberry Desktop Manager software.

Q: How much does the full Blackberry Pearl service from Verizon cost?
I bought a Blackberry Pearl from a friend, and am trying to switch the service from my Verizon Communicator to my Blackberry. I am on a basic plan from Verizon with my parents. We have unlimited texting already, but i want to be able to take full advantage of the Blackberry's capabilities. I have to pay the difference for my Blackberry full service plan from the plan we already have. I want to have unlimited texting/internet.

A: you have two blackberry package options. they are between 30-45 dollars. they're is a regular data plan and then there is the business email plan. I think it sounds like you need the 30 dollar data plan. For web and messaging.

Q: Why is my Blackberry Pearl not receiving messages and phone calls?
I have a Blackberry Pearl and both texts and phone calls just dont come in anymore. I can text people but then when they text me back I either dont get them, or it shows up and instantly gets deleted. Same with phone calls. Any help? Thanks. Also is there a way to reset to defaults on BB Pearl?

A: resetting a blackberry is a simple as pulling out the battery and waiting a few minutes. Don't turn the bberry off, just pull the battery out while the phone is still on. Thats how I was told to reset my BBerry Curve. Once you pop the batery back in the phone should turn itself back on. If its anything like my curve it will take about a minute to reboot

Q: If I bought a blackberry pearl, would I HAVE to also buy the blackberry service?
I know with some phones, like the Blackberry, you have to buy the extra internet service, or whatever. But- could I just buy the Blackberry Pearl and just use it as a phone on the Verizon network?

A: the answer is 'maybe'. if you plan on buying the phone without verizon subsidizing the cost, then you can put it on any plan you want. if you want a discount on the phone when youre signing a new contract, then you must put it on the plan they require. if they require a data plan, you have to get it.

Q: How do I use an unlocked Blackberry Pearl with a T-Mobile account?
I bought an unlocked Blackberry Pearl on Ebay, and it is supposedly compatible with T-Mobile. The seller states that all I need to do is put the SIM card from my old phone into the Blackberry, and it will work fine. Does anyone know if this is correct, and has anyone had success buying unlocked phones on Ebay?

A: If the phone is unlocked, yes you will be able to put your SIM card in and have voice/sms service. However to get the full use (t-zones, mms, fav5, etc) you will need to load the t-mobile software. Go to: http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/ You will be asked for your t-mobile phone number, then you can download the software. Download the desktop manager and the Handheld software. Install both. If the Blackberry wasn't originally a t-mobile device(ex, AT&T) delete the vendor.xml file from your computer. It is located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader Once you have done all this, plug your blackberry into your computer via usb and run the desktop manager/application loader. This will install the t-mobile OS and you should be good to go!

Q: Will the Blackberry Pearl 8130 work both in Canada and in the Philippines?
I wanted to buy the Blackberry Pearl 8130 but intend to use it first in the Philippines for the remaining of this year then use it in Canada by next year. I'm not sure if it will only take a change in SIM to get the unit working with all of it's features. Best interest would be use of personal email (Yahoo) and the GPS.

A: The Pearl 8130 is a CDMA phone. It doesn't use a SIM card. If you want a Pearl that is GSM, you need to get the 8110 (if you want GPS)

Q: How do you like the Blackberry Pearl cell phones?
Do you own one and which on is better the regular Blackberry or Blackberry pearl? I like the Pearl for its size and overall appearance.. What do you think?

A: I had the pearl and now i have the Curve (8830). THe pearl was not suited for me, it deleted all my calls, messages and contacts. After a long fight with verizon i was able to get to the bottom of my issues. turns out that all the great things the pearl can do...well the internal memory isnt large enough to support a lot of what BB advertises. The apps you run or internet you use t he more space is used up. when your space is gone the phone deletes contacts, messages, etc. to make room. This would also be the reason i kept having to take the battery out to reset the phone as it was freezing. Now the curve has the most internal memory of all the BB's and has worked like a charm for me! no issues here. Ive dl'd all the apps i want and use the internet all the time:) Oh and i did have a 2gig card in my pearl-didnt make a difference, saved everythying to it...i also dl'd the patch that verizon swears will fix the issue..didnt work...so dont get the pearl....unless you want to waste all that data package money and just use it as a p hone.

I have a sidekick 3, but I am planning to buy the blackberry pearl phone. Do the features of the sidekick unlimited plan (such as unlimited emailing, internet access, and texting) work with a Blackberry pearl?

A: Nope. The Sidekick and the Blackberry plan are two different plans. You would need to call T-Mobile Customer Care when you buy your new Blackberry, and have them switch you over to the Blackberry unlimited plan.

Q: Why is my Blackberry Pearl contantly showing the icon for new voicemail?
The image denoting new voicemail is constantly showing on my Blackberry Pearl. When I dial my voicemail there is nothing new. How do I get rid of this?

A: It may not necessarily be an indication that you have NEW voicemail, but maybe it's letting you know there are Voicemails period (i.e. old saved voicemails). Or maybe you need to contact your provider and have them resend the book to it. I can't remember what the book was called but it resets quirks and usually fixes a lot of issues with BlackBerrys. I think it's called a service book
